Saijo, Higashihiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture – Hakata Island, Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture [Cloudy]
I left my house in Saijo Town, Higashi-Hiroshima City at 12:50 pm. My luggage was heavier than I expected when I started the run…. I’ll have to reduce my luggage when I get to my parents’ house in Kagawa.
We ate out for the first time on the trip around 15:45. I had a Negitama beef bowl with miso soup for 600 yen at Sukiya Mihara.
At 16:20, I thought of taking a ferry in Mihara City to go to Ikuchijima, but Sunami is a better choice… I hurry to catch the ferry leaving at 17:00.
At 17:00, we boarded the ferry from Sunami Port to Setoda. The fare is 460 yen including the bicycle. The man at the ticket counter gave us a map. Thank you very much.
After arriving at Ikuchijima, we headed south to Omishima and Hakatajima. I thought the Shimanami Kaido was a wonderful way to cross the bridge over the sea by bicycle! I thought it was wonderful to cross the bridge over the sea, but when I tried to ride my bicycle, I found it quite tough because I had to climb up the bridge at once when I crossed it, and then descend down again at once to about 0m above sea level after crossing the bridge. The bridge is nice and clean, but…. Also, when crossing the bridge, you have to pay 100 yen or 50 yen in cash at a self-service machine, but there is no money changer, so what if you don’t have the money on hand?
After arriving at Hakata Island, we decided to stay here for the night (although we were aiming to land in Shikoku) because of the time. Fortunately, there was a roadside station and a Lawson nearby, so we had no trouble finding food. There was also a large enough space for camping, and it seemed like a vast place for a roadside station.
