Diary

Anan City – Kaiyo Town, Tokushima Pref. [Sunny]

I parted from Mr. Horiken in the morning and headed for Muroto all the way. I took a picture to commemorate the event, but I thought I had lost weight…

On the way there, I found a very retro-modern building. Later, I found out that it was a coffee shop. The name of the store is “Daibosatsu Touge. We did not have time to stop by, but I was very curious about its appearance!

Basically, we are heading south on National Route 55, which runs through the southeast of Tokushima Prefecture. However, since National Route 55 passes through mountainous areas along the way, in some cases we took a prefectural road along the coast. Specifically, at about the town of Yuki, we took Prefectural Road No. 25 southward. We went almost nonstop and took a break at a roadside station in Hiyosa. The footbath here was great. We had lunch at a diner next to the footbath, “Drive-in Hashimoto” (apparently closed in 2015), where we had a buffet of side dishes for 950 yen! I think I ate a crazy lot.

I had a sudden thunderstorm around 4:00 p.m., so I had to take shelter from the rain at one of the storefronts. I lost a little time here. From around Tokushima, I started to enjoy stopping at stations near the road as much as possible to take pictures, so you may see only pictures of stations from now on. On the way, we stopped at Saba Daishi Honbo, a separate sacred site in Shikoku, to pray for the safety of our trip.

After leaving the Saba Daishi main temple, I continued southward, and I feel that nature is becoming more and more beautiful as we move away from Tokushima City. Some people were enjoying ayu (sweetfish) fishing in the Kaifu River. This kind of scenery cannot be seen in a city like Tokushima City. Also, after passing Awa-Kainan Station, the road becomes a seaside road, and the sea is super beautiful! The clarity of the water was very clear and impressive. I will continue to encounter beautiful seas in the future, but since I started in Hiroshima, I had only been driving in areas near large towns to some extent, so this was the first time for me to see such a beautiful place.

I had originally planned to go to Muroto as our goal for the day, but it seemed impossible, so I decided to stay at Shishikui on the way to Muroto, due to the time loss caused by the thunderstorm in the evening. There was a hotel called Hotel Riviera in Shishikui, where I could take a day trip to a hot spring, so I decided to sweat it out. The bathing fee at the time was 600 yen. Inside there was a hinoki (Japanese cypress) bath, a large bath, and a medicinal bath, which I could enjoy until 23:00.

I want to travel all over Japan! With this in mind, I am always looking for places to visit when I have long vacations.
I would like to leave some of the videos and photos I have taken as a record of my travels.
In addition to travel, I also enjoy astrophotography and scuba videos.
